Murchison Tea Rooms – Murchison, New Zealand

Murchison is a typical pit stop kind of a town for us when doing a long road trip in this area. Unless you’ve packed a lunch for yourself, you’re likely going to have to choose between one of the very few options available in the small town.

Last time we were in Murchin we stopped at a different place which was just awful (jaded servers hating on tourists openly)… So I think in comparison, our pick for this trip was a win.

The food is by no means healthy, and is only “kind-of” in the paleo region of the spectrum, but it’s the best we could do with the options available. This place is the kind of place where you pick a pie or a cake from a glass cabinet, put it on your cafeteria tray, and then order a coffee at the counter. It’s not nice, but I think they are nice people and they’ve put some effort into their backyard, and that counts for a lot!
